Orange Tea cake

These days I have been forced to dish out tea time snacks & this next dish was baked as part of this quest. This tea cake has an orange zest which gives a kick to the cake. You can always sweeten the cake as per your taste bud. I have gone light on this cake with sugar.

Ingredients
  • 1 1/3 cup plain flour
  • 175 gms butter softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. vanilla essence
  • 1 tsp. orange zest

Preheat oven to 180°C. Line a 8 inch round pan or square pan and grease with a parchment paper.

Sift flour and baking powder 3 times.

In a bowl, beat butter and sugar for a minute or two. Add eggs gradually and beat. Add vanilla essence and orange zest. Add a pinch of salt. Mix in the flour and beat until well combined.

Pour the batter into the pan and bake for about 25-30 minutes. Insert a toothpick in the middle of the cake and check.

Cool completely and enjoy with your evening tea!!!!!!
