Like most of the new age families, we too supposedly follow a
strict diet regime over the weekdays (note the special emphasis on supposedly).
However Friday nights are off the hook & we decide to let the calories
& the fat stack up. The Lasagna just
happens to be the perfect fit for a sinful weekend.
Ingredients
1 cup sausage cooked and grounded
2 ½ cups Cheese,
½ cup Grated Parmesan Cheese, divided
½ cup mozzarella cheese
¼ cup chopped fresh spinach/parsley
1 egg, beaten
1 jar (24 oz.) spaghetti sauce (I used marinara sauce)
1 cup water
12 lasagna noodle strips, uncooked
Heat oven to 350°F/180°C.
Gently
heat the sausage and chicken in a non-stick pan for 2 minutes and stir in the
spaghetti sauce. Add 1 cup water to empty sauce jar; cover with lid and shake
well. Add to meat mixture and stir until blended.
Mix 1/4 cup Parmesan, spinach and egg until
blended.
Spread 1 cup meat sauce onto bottom of
13x9-inch baking dish; top with layers of 3 lasagna noodles, 1/3 of the cheese
mixture and 1 cup meat sauce. Repeat layers twice. Top with remaining noodles,
meat sauce and mozzarella cheese. Cover with foil sprayed with cooking spray.
Bake for 50 minutes to 1 hour and in between remove foil
after 45 min. Let stand for 15 minutes before cutting to serve.
Perfect dinner for a Friday night!!!!
