Paneer Tikka Masala

This next tikka based gravy dish was initially thought to be made with chicken, however later much to my husband’s displeasure I opted for paneer. While it may take some time to woo the hard core non-veggies with this dish, they still do manage to come around. Rice and roti goes well with this dish.

Ingredients
  •  250 gms paneer cubed
  •  1 tbsp. ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp. chilli powder
  • 3 tbsp. yogurt
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp. garam masala
  • 2 tbsp. Veg oil
  • 1-2 onions medium chopped
  • 3 cloves
  • 1 inch cinnamon bark
  • 3 cardamom pods
  • 1 tbsp. chilli powder
  • 1 tsp. turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp. coriander powder
  • 1 tsp. garam masala
  • 1 tsp. kasoori methi
  • 1-2 tsp. tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp. cashew paste
  • 1 capsicum cubed
  • Coriander leaves to garnish

In a bowl, mix paneer, garam masala, chilli powder, salt, yogurt, ginger garlic paste. Marinate for ½ an hour.

Heat oil in a pan and fry the paneer cubes. Drain them on a paper towel. In the same pan, add cloves, cinnamon, and cardamom pods and sauté for a while. Add onions and sauté till translucent.

Grind the onion masala into a fine paste.

In a pan heat 1 tsp. oil and add the onion mixture and sauté for a while. Add chilli powder, turmeric powder and coriander powder and stir till the curry powder is thoroughly cooked. Add tomato paste and sauté for a while. Add salt and capsicum.

Add cashew paste and kasoori methi and mix completely. Add 1 tsp. sugar and ¾ cup water and fried paneer pieces. Cover and cook for 5-6 minutes.

Remove from heat and garnish with coriander leaves.MMM…. Yummy!!!!
