This
next tikka based gravy dish was initially thought to be made with chicken,
however later much to my husband’s displeasure I opted for paneer. While it may
take some time to woo the hard core non-veggies with this dish, they still do
manage to come around. Rice and roti goes well with this dish.
Ingredients
- 250 gms paneer cubed
- 1 tbsp. ginger garlic paste
- 1 tsp. chilli powder
- 3 tbsp. yogurt
- A pinch of salt
- 1 tsp. garam masala
- 2 tbsp. Veg oil
- 1-2 onions medium chopped
- 3 cloves
- 1 inch cinnamon bark
- 3 cardamom pods
- 1 tbsp. chilli powder
- 1 tsp. turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp. coriander powder
- 1 tsp. garam masala
- 1 tsp. kasoori methi
- 1-2 tsp. tomato paste
- 2 tbsp. cashew paste
- 1 capsicum cubed
- Coriander leaves to garnish
In
a bowl, mix paneer, garam masala, chilli powder, salt, yogurt, ginger garlic
paste. Marinate for ½ an hour.
Heat
oil in a pan and fry the paneer cubes. Drain them on a paper towel. In the same
pan, add cloves, cinnamon, and cardamom pods and sauté for a while. Add onions
and sauté till translucent.
Grind
the onion masala into a fine paste.
In
a pan heat 1 tsp. oil and add the onion mixture and sauté for a while. Add
chilli powder, turmeric powder and coriander powder and stir till the curry
powder is thoroughly cooked. Add tomato paste and sauté for a while. Add salt
and capsicum.
Add
cashew paste and kasoori methi and mix completely. Add 1 tsp. sugar and ¾ cup
water and fried paneer pieces. Cover and cook for 5-6 minutes.
Remove
from heat and garnish with coriander leaves.MMM…. Yummy!!!!
